This year's Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign will take place on March 2, 2016. In the past few years, NCSO has focused on not saying the r-word. This year we are taking it one step further and working on all students being UNIFIED! Special Olympics Project UNIFY® is an education and sports based strategy powered by an engaged youth community that increases athletic and leadership opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities, while creating communities of acceptance for all. Inclusive sports provide youth with and without intellectual disabilities the opportunity to train and play together as teammates. Students develop exceptional athletic skills while forming friendships, fostering respect for each other, and becoming leaders on and off the court. If you would like to participate in the event by wearing a shirt or having an r-word banner at your school please contact me. Attached is the information for the t-shirts.
Knights of Columbus will host the 3rd annual Soccer Challenge for Special Olympics on September 27th at Bob Rute Field. Athlete registration will begin at 10:00am. Athletes will rotate through 6 stations (dribbling, passing to a partner, shooting goals, defense, goal keeping & soccer challenge) and then use their newly learned skills to play in a unified game. The day will end with lunch and a dance party. This activity is open to Unified and Special Olympic Athletes. ![]()
